They have called for evidence to be put forward for why this car park is needed and why a section of the green area on the promenade must be used to develop the car park. His party colleague Cllr Norma Moriarty, meanwhile, told the meeting that the car park designs have been well-received, and she said she looks forward to the project being progressed. Funding for the car park of €200,000 was granted under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme and also includes low-level lighting for the promenade. The car park plans are available for viewing on the council's website and submissions can be made until January 8.
