The incident happened midnight last Friday, and Varnika chose to make a Facebook post describing the incident on August 5. Her post that started with, "WAS ALMOST KIDNAPPED ON A CHANDIGARH ROAD LAST NIGHT", has been shared over 3,500 times and garnered media attention. Varnika filed a complaint against the two men after which Chandigarh Police arrested Vikas and Ashish. It could be all these that compelled Varnika's father Virender Kundu to make a Facebook post to make their stance clear. In the post, Kundu said, "We will not interfere with the investigation or the prosecution, just as we do not want the accused to influence the investigation in any way.
