Houston — Weekly US coal ship departures totaled 44 in the week ended Jan. 9, up four from the previous week and up 13 from the year-ago week, data from cFlow, Platts trade flow software, showed. Gulf Coast departures totaled 26, up one carrier week on week and reaching a four-week high. From the year-ago week, departures were up eight. One carrier each was directed to the Black Sea, Canada, Central Africa, North Asia, the North Atlantic, and the UK and Continent. Six coal carriers left from the West Coast, up two from the week before and up one from the year-ago week.
