Houston — Weekly US coal ship departures totaled 40 in the week ended May 8, up two from the previous week and 11 above from the same week a year ago, cFlow, Platts trade flow software, data showed May 11. Register NowWhile departures reached a four-week high, the departing laden and part-laden ships carried about 2.6 million dwt, up 11.6% from the week before. The departing coal carriers held over 1.1 million dwt, down 14.3% from the previous week. In the most recent week, the departing ships carried 219,673 dwt, up 30.3% from the previous week. Three ships went to North Asia, while one went to Central America.
