Weight-loss jabs slash the risk of patients with diabetes developing an eye condition that can lead to blindness, research suggests. A US study found that patients who were taking Mounjaro, also known as tirzepatide, had a reduced risk of being diagnosed with diabetic retinopathy. There have previously been concerns that weight-loss jabs can cause diabetic retinopathy. A 2016 study concluded as many as one in ten people with diabetic retinopathy taking semaglutide experience a worsening in their symptoms. But the team behind the latest study say this is not the case with Mounjaro.
