Kennedy Odede, Founder and CEO of Shining Hope for Communities (SHOFCO), told TUKO.co.ke that the scholarships cover tuition, school uniforms, learning materials, mentorship and psychosocial support. “When schools reopen, many families in informal settlements and marginalised communities are anxious because they simply cannot afford school fees,” Dr Odede said. “I was worried because my income is not stable, and I did not know how I would pay school fees this year,” she said. According to the man of God, they paid school fees and helped parents to secure bursaries, while others were given cheques to cater for their back-to-school.
