Lakshan currently plays first class cricket in Sri Lanka for Kurunegala CC and will join up with the club ahead of the 2026 season. In a social media post, the club said: “ We are please to announced that Lakshan Edirisinghe will be returning to Wellington as out overseas for 2026. “In his first season in red and black, Ediri lead WEPL Somerset in runs with 793, took 20 wickets and helped us to the Baker Cup Final. “We look forward to welcoming Ediri back and look forward to getting going next season.”Lakshan started his professional career at Sri Lanka Army Sports Club where he played for more than 10 years. Wellington finished sixth in WEPL Somerset last season, winning nine of their 18 fixtures.
