And on Thursday, it was the hereditary chiefs from the nation’s five traditional clans with whom Coastal GasLink negotiated an agreement. But at the same time, First Nations band council leaders also believe they’re fulfilling their obligations. “There can be no question now that this is an issue of Wet’suwet’en rights and title,” the camp’s statement reads.
