Nurseries and colleges were included in an erroneous early version of a press release that was sent to journalists before being rescinded. Education Secretary Gavin Williamson said he wants to support nurseries separately through the Hungry Little Minds scheme, "and then move" to further education too. Neil Leitch, chief executive of the Early Years Alliance added: "It beggars belief that the early years sector has been excluded from this 'catch-up' package. When Boris Johnson announced the fund he said it would be a "massive" catch-up programme for "summer and beyond".
