When market analysts use the word “divergence,” it often isn’t clear what they mean. That’s a problem because how it is used and in what context has implications for investors. The nub of the matter is that divergence gets used in at least two distinct areas of market analysis. One refers to economic divergences, and the other relates to market metrics.
