(CNN) Advisers to the US Food and Drug Administration are scheduled to meet Wednesday to get a clearer picture of what the future of Covid-19 booster shots might look like. But there has been some debate around whether additional doses of Covid-19 vaccine will be needed for the general public -- and, if so -- when and how often. The FDA's Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee will discuss the possible need for Covid-19 vaccine booster shots in the future, including the process for selecting variant-specific boosters and whether the Covid-19 vaccine could become an annual shot. The FDA's vaccine advisers will hear from experts at the University of Washington's Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation in Seattle on modeling future Covid-19 outbreaks. For now, "there are two issues that are going on" when it comes to the future of Covid-19 booster shots, Fauci said Friday.
