Football fans often get the impression politicians look down their noses at them. The appointment managed that rare feat of uniting Rangers and Celtic fans, both of whom largely held Reid in contempt albeit for different reasons. Glasgow MSP James Dornan is known for his support of Celtic and he often clashes with Rangers fans on social media. While Celtic seems to be the favoured club among Scottish politicians, other teams with multiple known supporters include Aberdeen. SNP Westminster frontbencher Richard Thomson is a fan, as are Scottish Government Ministers Neil Gray and Richard Lochhead and Scottish Conservative MP Andrew Bowie.
