Joshua Piper, sleep clinician at Resmed UK, tells Sun Health: “We actually all do it at night multiple times. If you’re waking up regularly to go to the toilet, it’s worth noting how often this occurs. “During deep NREM sleep, we may encounter parasomnias like sleepwalking, sleep talking, night terrors - which are different from nightmares - and confusional arousals. “However, if you're in bed and asleep by 9pm, then eight hours worth of sleep may well be enough and you're waking naturally,” Joshua says.
