The site claims to have spotted a “glimpse” of the payment feature in a new update to WhatsApp’s beta version. That said, it will be the first time a payment feature has been spotted in WhatsApp’s beta versions since the confirmation in April this year. The peer-to-peer payment feature will come weeks after TrueCaller, another popular application in India, launched UPI-based payment service. With an integration of payment service, the application could give a tough competition to popular digital wallet Paytm. Hike messenger, the Indian instant messaging app, launched UPI-based peer-to-peer payment service and digital wallet in June this year.
