This was The Great Malaysian Novel, a project organised by The Star. I was very taken by it and proposed the idea for “The Great Malaysian Novel” to my bosses. The Star and Sheaffer announced The Great Malaysian Novel project on Oct 22,1991. To me, he is the true hero of The Great Malaysian Novel project. As I look back at all the printed passages, what makes me smile and feel proud is how truly multiracial the writers of The Great Malaysian Novel were.
