Where an acre piece of land goes for half a billion

The land around Nairobi’s Upperhill suburb remains the most expensive in a second-quarter land price survey for Nairobi and its environs. A buyer looking for land in the area will part with Sh525.7 million for an acre while in the satellite towns an acre in Ruaka is now commanding a Sh89.8 million asking price. The second quarter HassConsult land index survey points to softening land prices as Covid-19 uncertainty continues to affect investor demand. Nairobi's land prices minimally decline 0.7 percent. Ongata Rongai continues to grow, with an increase of 1.3 percent over the quarter and 3.4 per cent in the last year.
