White House ousts Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, national security aide who testified in impeachment inquiry

Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, whose House impeachment testimony bolstered the Democrats’ case and infuriated President Trump, was ordered out of the White House along with his twin brother Friday in what his lawyer described as an act of presidential revenge. Vindman, the top Ukraine expert at the National Security Council, “was escorted out of the White House where he has dutifully served his country and his President,” attorney David Pressman said in a statement. Vindman had spoken in public only once, and only after he was issued a congressional subpoena during the House impeachment inquiry last fall, Pressman noted. Vindman’s Nov. 19 public testimony, following the release of his sworn deposition, sparked the ire of the White House. Trump’s defenders argued that the president was right to get Vindman out of the White House.
