Alan Sim, 50, was driving a Vauxhall Astra on the A595 at Lillyhall on December 18, when police saw him driving “erratically”, Workington Magistrates’ Court heard. Pamela Fee, prosecuting, said the defendant only held a provisional licence and his girlfriend, who was in the vehicle with him, was not insured to drive. A small snap bag was found in his shirt pocket which was later tested and shown to be positive for cocaine. A blood test showed that Sim had 246mcg of Benzoylecgonine – the body breakdown product for cocaine – per litre of blood. I would like to apologise for my behaviour.”Sim, of Coniston Road, Whitehaven, was given a 23-month driving ban.
