As the network providers move more toward content creation, the relationship between platforms and their users may become tenuous. Just look at the number of digital media brands and platforms Verizon now owns: Yahoo News, Huffington Post, TechCrunch, Flickr, Engadget and Tumblr, to name but a few. This poses a serious problem for companies like Netflix that rely on broadband providers to give users access to their content.
