In Bradford — UK City of Culture last year — I copped a lot of the local painter David Hockney, admired the architecture (or most of it, anyway) and walked an alpaca on the moorlands neighbouring the city. You get the picture: my exploration of the UK’s nether regions has delivered no shortage of amusement and intrigue.
