Seventeen Fortune 500 companies are based in the Twin Cities, more per capita than any other US metro and in the top 10 globally. The Twin Cities’ long tradition as a welcoming place for refugees and immigrants dating back to the Vietnam War also helped make it a business-friendly hub. So Target and many businesses in the Twin Cities – and throughout America – went quiet.
