Despite having no personal military service, President Mahama, who serves as Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, has made it a tradition to appear in full military regalia at major official ceremonies of the Ghana Armed Forces. For the 2026 commissioning, he arrived dressed in the sky-blue colours of the Ghana Air Force. Joining the President at the commissioning ceremony, the number of graduating cadets for which remains unconfirmed, were the Minister for the Interior, Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka, and the Deputy Minister for Defence, Ernest Brogya Genfi.
