Giants general manager Dave Gettleman continues to insist that he has a plan to make the Giants into a contender sooner than later. Although Vernon was the Giants best pass rusher last year, he also carried an albatross of a cap hit that didn’t reflect his production. The Giants under Gettleman have shown that they don’t just make a move without having a counter move or two in mind to fill the void. That is why for the time being, the Giants are sticking with 38-year-old Eli Manning at quarterback. That plan appears to have been the Giants intention all along, and so far, that appears to continue to be the plan moving forward assuming the Giants draft a quarterback this year.
