From large corporations such as Nvidia launching ready-to-use edge AI devices to a Kickstarter campaign by OpenCV, we are witnessing hypergrowth in the edge AI space. The edge AI market is going to grow immensely, according to Grand View Research, "registering a CAGR exceeding 37% from 2020 to 2027." We at my company have spent significant time analyzing the trade-offs involved in cloud-based AI versus edge AI. We found privacy to be the most important reason for moving cloud-powered AI decision-making to on-premise edge AI devices. But, remember that the decision of edge AI versus cloud AI should be made early in the life of a project.
