In an interview with Smart Ghana TV on January 26, 2026, Bishop Adu claimed that the woman invoked a curse on the late Yaw Sarpong over an unpaid debt. The preacher explained that a spiritualist eventually reversed the curse after the woman declined to make peace with Yaw Sarpong. Bishop Adu added that the woman passed away on the same day Yaw Sarpong regained his ability to walk amid his health battle. Yaw Sarpong had battled ill health for several years, occasionally stepping back from public performances to focus on treatment and recovery.
