It’s stuff right out of Bollywood movies and TV soaps — the fortunes of a man who was once a tycoon take a turn and he is reduced to a hand-to-mouth existence. He has filed a petition in the Bombay High Court seeking possession of a duplex in the redeveloped 36-storey JK House on Malabar Hill . His lawyer has claimed that the tycoon of yesterday can’t even have a car and a driver today. He then rented a row house on Nepean Sea Road for Rs 7 lakh a month. Now he wants Raymond to reimburse the rent. While all these claims made by Dr Singhania are shocking, what stands out is that the reel and real life are not as far apart as they seem.
