Getting the children to eat their vegetables right now might not be Priority 1; shopping for vegetables might be more worrisome. But parents can always practice stealth nutrition if they have the produce: cauliflower in the rice; kale in the pizza sauce; spinach in the smoothie. Television is the same—slip ’em some knowledge under the cover of brain candy. Although this has been a premise of much children’s TV at least since “Sesame Street” had its premiere back in 1969, nothing sounds emptier in calories than “72 Cutest Animals.”...
