Kiyeng, the 2015 world champion over the distance, has huge ambitions at the Olympic Games that run in Tokyo from July 23 to August 8. They include Tunisia’s Olympic champion and world silver medalist Habiba Ghribi, Olympic bronze medalist Sofia Assefa of Ethiopia as well as America’s 2017 world champion Emma Coburn and silver medallist Courtney Frerichs. She is expected to marshal forces with world 3,000m record holder Beatrice Chepkoech, who has been in tip-top form in the last two seasons. 2019 World steeplechase Champion Ivyne Kiyeng, she trains at Kaptagat Eldoret. World indoor silver medallist Christina Clemons was second in 12.64, just 0.01 ahead of 2015 world champion Danielle Williams.
