Wiltshire puts market on notice for £300m contract

Wiltshire County Council has published the contract notice for a new highways term maintenance deal that could be worth up to £300m over 10 years. This contract will include construction, foundation and surface works, routine, reactive and safety maintenance, repairs and cleansing operations, signing and lining, repairs and maintenance to structures, drainage CCTV investigations and repairs, and street lighting maintenance repairs and replacements. In a sign of market trends, the contract will require the contractor to reduce the carbon footprint of construction and maintenance activities over the life of the contract and consider resilience to changing conditions and extremes of weather. The contract is due to start in April 2023 for five years with the possibility of a five-year extension. It follows the publication of a prior information notice and a supplier engagement day in November.
