By Christine McKayAn unusual, family-focused event will give the public access to private areas of Te Apiti wind farm for the Meridian Te Apiti Whanau Challenge in April. Participants can run, walk or take a family stroll through various lengths of tracks among the windmills in the event run by Sport Manawatu in partnership with Tararua District Council and Meridian Energy. "It is an exciting event for the district, in particular the Tararua," said Sport Manawatu's Tararua recreation adviser, Natarsha Nikora. "After the successes of our annual Whanau Tri event, we have continued with the theme of a family orientated day to engage with a wider audience," Natarsha said. - The Meridian Te Apiti Whanau Challenge will be on April 23.
