Winnipeg pedestrian dead after semi crash east of Portage la Prairie


A pedestrian is dead after a semi-trailer crash east of Portage la Prairie Sunday. At about 4 p.m., RCMP were called to the Trans-Canada Highway east of Highway 13 after reports of a collision. A 68-year-old Minnedosa man was behind the wheel of an eastbound semi-trailer that hit a 31-year-old pedestrian from Winnipeg, RCMP said. A section of the Trans-Canada Highway was closed between Highway 240 and Highway 13 for several hours Sunday. It was reopened just after 8 p.m. CT.RCMP continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
