Dogs aren't just man's best friend. According to a UK study, these loyal pooches can be trained to detect Covid-19 infection in humans. The study found that people who are infected with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19, give off a distinct odour, which these highly trained dogs can detect with pinpoint accuracy. What's best of all is that they can also detect asymptomatic (no symptoms) infection. According to the findings, two of the six dogs could correctly detect 300 plane passengers' Covid-19 status in 30 minutes as part of a "rapid screen and test" strategy – the time it takes to disembark from a plane.
