Phillips said the practice was among “lots of cases” she dealt with where people from Pakistani and Bangladeshi communities behaved unacceptably towards women. In an interview with The Times yesterday, she attacked “the acceptability of going and getting a wife from abroad if your son is disabled . as if he deserves to have a wife and we’ll just get one from Pakistan. That’s not OK in my book.”Under controversial requirements in force since 2012, a British citizen wishing to bring a foreign spouse to the UK must have a minimum annual income of £18,600.
