The Washington Wizards pinned their hopes for a successful May on earning a high selection in the NBA Draft Lottery and having their top general manager candidate accept an offer. And it was reported Monday that Tim Connelly, Denver’s president of basketball operations, will remain with the Nuggets, where he’s been since 2013. The decision stings worse because the Wizards even waited until the Nuggets had been eliminated from the playoffs to speak with Connelly. Further, the new GM enters into an even tougher position because of the drop of three spots in the NBA Draft Lottery, which might as well have been a free fall. Each day without a general manager is a day wasted.
