Woman delivers baby on roadside as ambulance services fail to respond

A woman delivered a baby boy by the roadside on Thursday morning after lying in pain for hours as her family members received no response from the state’s ambulance services or passersby in a village in Uttar Pradesh’s Allahabad district. Her family members called 108 and 102 ambulance but the call got disconnected after the first ring. Family members also called an Asha worker for help, but she too did not turn up. All calls related to 108 and 102 ambulance services are received by a call centre in Lucknow. “Even if the centre had not received the call or it got disconnected, then call details must be registered on their computer.
