GATLINBURG, Tennessee — A woman died at a Smoky Mountains theme park after jumping from a chairlift, according to Gatlinburg officials. A 911 call reported the woman on the ground below the chairlift at Anakeesta around 7:40 p.m. Thursday, city officials told TV station WVLT. Anakeesta park officials said they continued operating the lift long enough to allow all riders to get off it. The people left at its top terminus were taken back to the main entrance on shuttles. It takes riders from the park entrance on Gatlinburg’s touristy main strip to a hilltop cluster of restaurants, viewing platforms, rides and forest trails.
