Woman put in induced coma for six weeks after tick bite triggers viral infection


Sheila Pawan was rushed to Morriston Hospital by her family after waking up unable to walk or dress herself, WalesOnline reported. With Sheila unable to breathe, medical staff moved her to the intensive care unit, where doctors came to attribute her condition to rare and life-threatening autoimmune disorder. Sheila, from Tonna, suffered full-body paralysis which left her unable to move, breathe, or swallow and was put in an induced coma for six weeks. Her daughter Elizabeth said: "My mother spent seven months in hospital recovering. Since coming out of hospital Sheila, 67, has enjoyed holidays to Tobago and Canada and has continued her recovery at home by keeping active.
