The Ethiopian ambassador to Nigeria, Solomon Abebe Tessema has said that Ethiopia is prioritising women empowerment because they are crucial component of every sustainable development drive. Tessema maintained that, genuine development will remain a mirage, except women, who constitute 50 percent of the population are empowered to play the role expected of them. According to Tessema, “Ethiopia knew this very much that, no real development can take place, if women, that constitutes 50 percent of our population are sidelined in our development drive. “The Ahmed Abiy led government in Ethiopia just recently reconstituted a cabinet that is made up of 50 percent women. “Similarly, Ethiopian former Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn visited Nigeria in 2014, when Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, were signed by a joint ministerial committee.
