Women write fiction — and readers love it. Seventeen of the novels on our Top 20 Original Fiction list are by women. (Original Fiction includes novels, stories or poetry, hardback or paperback, that have not previously been published in another form.) On the Canadian fiction list, 16 of the top 20 books are by women. On our year-end Original Fiction list, seven of the novels fall into this category, all written by women, most involving the unheralded bravery of women fighting Nazi forces.
