Metrolinx is moving ahead with a plan to build a GO station at Woodbine Racetrack — continuing the provincial transportation agency’s recent shift to privately funding the construction of transit infrastructure. Yurek said the partnership with Woodbine Entertainment is about more than saving money. “There’s something concerning about a GO station being built next to the Woodbine Entertainment casino in Doug Ford’s backyard,” she said. “Mass transit at Woodbine is the catalyst for our plan to develop hundreds of acres on this site,” said Woodbine Entertainment CEO Jim Lawson. Woodbine Entertainment has not yet announced a contractor who will build the project, and there is no timeline for when the new station will be complete.
