The name will be in the draw, but the place in the competition has not yet been secured for Scotland. That is when Clarke’s side are set to face Ukraine and then take on Wales for the last European spot available. The two intercontinental finals will be played in Qatar, having been moved from their initial dates and venues in March. June will give Scotland a chance to progress, but it will also provide perspective and their football fate pales into insignificance in the bigger picture. Once the draw is made, Scotland will at least have a little more clarity on what lies ahead.
