Mahmoud Hemida – Photo courtesy WikimediaCAIRO – 23 January 2018: The world premiere of "Poisonous Roses" will take place at the 47th International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR)between January 24 and February 4.The movie revolves around Saqr, who dreams of a better life beyond his tannery job in the slums, but his strong love for his sister ties him to the same place. "Poisonous Roses" stars Mahmoud Hemida and Merihan Magdi; it is written and directed by Ahmed FawziSaleh.Saleh is an Egyptian screenwriter who was born in 1981. "Poisonous Roses" is Saleh'sfirst feature film. "Poisonous Roses" will screen within the festival's Bright Future section, which is tailor made to support young and emerging filmmakers.The Bright Future's main program includes 48 movies. Those films will get their world premiere in Rotterdam Festival and will all compete for the Bright Future Award, worth €10,000.
