The Minstermen threatened early when Mark Kitching was denied by Jas Singh but the Tamworth goalkeeper was beaten in the 27th minute when Ollie Pearce prodded home a loose ball in the area. Either side of half-time, Malachi Fagan-Walcott kept York ahead with a terrific goal-line block before Harrison Male produced an excellent save after Teo Kurtaran was played through one-on-one. Jeff King thumped against the bar but while York failed to give themselves a cushion, they held on to end Tamworth’s four-match unbeaten run.
