Youth should draw inspiration from Paralympians, says Subramaniam

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian youth should take inspiration from the success of the country’s Paralympians who never allowed their disabilities to hinder their struggle of reaching great heights. Dr Subramaniam, who is also MIC president, said the recent Olympics and the current Paralympics showed that sport unites all Malaysians, irrespective of their racial or religious backgrounds. Ridzuan Mohamad Puzi delivered the nation's first ever Paralympic gold after winning the men's 100m T36 (cerebral palsy) sprint in a time of 12.07 seconds, a new Paralympic record. Hours later, Muhammad Ziyad Zolkefli won the men's F20 shot put final, smashing the world record in the process. Latif broke his own world record three times en route to winning the men's long jump T20 (intellectual disability) event at the Olympic Stadium.
