Zamboanga City not a dumping ground for ‘scalawag’ policemen – Rep. Lobregat

Zamboanga City not a dumping ground for ‘scalawag’ policemen – Rep. LobregatZamboanga City – “Hindi namin kailangan ng basurang pulis, mas kailangan namin ng matitinong pulis sa Zamboanga City.”This was the strong statement issued by Zamboanga City Rep. Celso Lobregat to officials of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) attending the 2017 budget hearing the other day at the House of Representative. Rep. Lobregat was speaking to DILG Secretary Mike Sueno and Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa on the proposed move to transfer “police scalawags” from Luzon to the Zamboanga peninsula region. Rep Lobregat, vice chairman of the Committee on Appropriation in the House of Representatives, said Zamboanga City needs disciplined policemen, and those who are a menace to society. “Transferring policemen involved in drugs from Luzon to Zamboanga, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi is not solving the problem in the organization. “It would be much better if he (the PNP chief) will suspend or freeze those erring PNP personnel rather than relocate them where they can still continue their illegal acts,” Lobregat said.
