Apart from Jha and Goyal as Members, CERC currently has Chairperson P K Pujari. The order mandated that next vacancy in CERC be filled up by a person with judicial background.The power ministry advertised job vacancy for member law in CERC in April 2019. The contempt petition was filed against his appointment before the appointment of Member-Law.The power ministry has re-issued a job vacancy circular for Member-Law in CERC on August 1. In today's hearing, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said the process for appointing a person of law is expected to be concluded next month. He also stated that one or more person so appointed would be asked to proceed on leave till such time as the person from law is appointed.
