The freeze halts the selection process launched in December for what was set to be one of the country’s most strategic energy projects. The energy ministry said the pause was due to “new parameters and hypotheses” affecting the project’s design. The decision was made as Morocco is debating a law on gas projects. Reuters cited the finance ministry expressing commitment to the gas projects and readiness to relaunch them once concerns are addressed. The Energy Ministry said it will provide updates in line with competition rules but gave no timeline for resuming the tender process.

There is certainly plenty for the West to work with in Libya’s oil and gas sector. It also agreed with the NOC to make the development of the Waha-concession North Gialo and NC-98 oil fields a priority. All these efforts are part of the NOC’s overall target of lifting Libya’s oil production to 2 million bpd by 2028, supported by the newly re-energised ‘Strategic Programs Office’ (SPO). This had been focused on boosting production to 1.6 million bpd, before rising political tensions last year delayed such initiatives. NOC subsidiary Waha Oil announced it increased crude oil production by 20% since 2024 by dint of intensive maintenance programs, reopening shut-in wells and drilling new ones.

Published: Feb 3, 2026written by Eben De Jager, PhD New Testament Share CiteIt took the early Christian community several centuries to settle which books met the criteria for inclusion in the New Testament. The first complete list of books of the New Testament canon appeared in the Festal Letter 39 by Athanasius of Alexandria in 367 CE. Contemporary scholarship often disagrees with the views on authorship that the early Church held on many New Testament books and contributes to our understanding of the New Testament canon. Widespread useThe third criterion for inclusion of a book into the New Testament canon was widespread use. Debates about some books raged for centuries before leaders reached consensus on their inclusion in the New Testament canon.

This force projection suggests the US is no longer focused on containing Iran but rather compelling a final resolution of a long-running conflict. The US would coordinate strikes against the Iranian leadership, missile forces, air defences and remaining nuclear infrastructure, seeking to cripple the regime. This would probably trigger Iranian regional escalation ranging from attacks on US bases, shipping lanes and Israeli cities, and maybe even some proxy mobilisation across the Gulf. Under combined external pressure and internal unrest, the regime fractures, producing not liberal transition but a power vacuum. Whether through forced compromise, limited war or regime collapse, none of the likely paths ahead point toward immediate stability or democratic transition.
