Shell Plc urged a UK court not to threaten the commercial viability of a North Sea gas field by halting its development, despite acknowledging that the approval process for the project was flawed. The environmental groups are demanding a halt to both developments until a new approval process can be completed. Doing so would simply not be commercially viable, she told the Court of Session in Edinburgh on Wednesday. “Uncertainty around the timescale for a fresh consent puts the viability of the whole project at risk,” O’Neill told the court. The mission, known as Operation North Pacific Guard (Op.NPG), is an annual, multi-national effort to coordinate fisheries enforcement to protect global fish stocks. Côte d’Ivoire will set up a $500 million green financing fund to support sustainable growth initiatives and enhance climate action, the IMF said. This new facility will be part of the African Green Banks Initiative, aiming to create a $1.5 billion ecosystem of green investment facilities across the continent by 2030. The facility will be capitalized by public sources such as the Ivorian government, the Green Climate Fund, the Global Environment Facility, multilateral development banks, development finance institutions, and potential private sources. The objectives set out in Côte d’Ivoire’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) would require an estimated $22 billion by 2030. In March, the IMF’s board approved a $1.3 billion, 30-month loan agreement for Côte d’Ivoire under the Resilience and Sustainability Facility.

Satellite images show the smog blanket stretching across practically the whole of north India. What is also shocking is the scale of the smog cover, as well as the level of pollutants present in it. The smog blanket, while registering its presence just around Diwali, settles down in earnest towards the end of December and continues throughout January. The smog cover over Delhi was thick and significantly dropped air quality to the 'Severe' category. The Air Quality Index is also expected to move back to the 'Very Poor' category tomorrow.
