Family members of Greens leader Zack Polanski fear they will be forced to leave the UK if he ever became prime minister. Born into a Jewish family in Salford, he has constantly said he is ‘proud of my Jewish heritage’, but family members believe he has put his ambition and politics ahead of his community. ‘He’s currently the leader of the future Islamic party of Britain, that’s what the Green Party is fast becoming,’ said one. The Campaign Against Antisemitism said the Green Party was ‘not only tolerating but amplifying some of the worst rhetoric that we have seen in British politics in a generation’. But family members have described their shock at how the former actor and hypnotist has become leader of a party expressing hatred for Israel.

Thomas Tuchel revealed disappointment at England fans who jeered Ben White on the defender’s return from a self-imposed international exile. On a hectic night, White then gave away a penalty described as ‘soft’ by Tuchel, with Federico Valverde equalising. White left the 2022 World Cup in Qatar following a disagreement with former assistant boss Steve Holland and had made himself unavailable for selection until this camp. ‘There was a mixed reception which I’m disappointed about because we protect our players,’ Tuchel said. ‘I like Solanke’s effort, he worked like a dog as our first defender,’ Tuchel said.

Poll booked Simunic in the 61st and 90th minutes but failed to send him off, later issuing the red card after a third yellow in added time. Poll was immediately referenced on ITV, with co-commentator Lee Dixon joking: 'Graham Poll was having a nice evening before that!'. 'Now we’ve been told the first of those yellow cards for Ugarte was actually for Gimenez. So rather than two yellow cards, Ugarte got no yellow cards.'

Soccer is a simple game. Twenty-two players chase a ball for 90 minutes and at the end, Ireland lose in heartbreaking fashion. And yet for all that pain, there is something deeply likeable about the current team. Soccer is a sport awash with money and greed, where the connection between players and fans is more tenuous than ever. Who can resist the arc of Parrott’s career, from elite schoolboy to lower-league journeyman to national hero?

A windfarm operator is to appeal a widely consequential ruling requiring it to pay more than €300,000 damages for noise nuisance caused to its neighbours. In a judgment published this week, the judge agreed to defer an order requiring Donnybrook-based operator Meenacloghspar (Wind) Limited to pay out damages to the four plaintiffs in two separate cases. The pause to the payment order is to last until the determination of Meenacloghspar’s appeal of her decisions in the actions. In its intended appeal, Meenacloghspar will allege the High Court erred legally and factually in a range of its findings.
