They were imprisoned for obtaining illegal material benefits amounting to LD 1.5 million in exchange for their termination of the contract for the supply of binding materials for cement clinker, concluded with Al-Sahab Company. The Notary Public involved in the case who deliberately forged official documents, was also imprisoned for a period of 3 years, fined LD 75,000 dinars, and deprived of his civil rights for the period of implementation of the sentence. The United Nations General Assembly voted down Russia’s bid to rejoin the Human Rights Council, a victory for Ukraine and the US as they seek to keep up pressure on Moscow over its invasion 18 months ago. Russia lost to Bulgaria and Albania in its push to fill one of the seats reserved for Eastern European nations. It secured 83 votes, a number that’s less than half of the General Assembly. Russia’s bid to join the UN Human Rights Council has fallen short in a win for Ukraine and the US. “They attack others, while hushing up violations at home, such as religious intolerance, discrimination and xenophobia,” Nebenzia said without naming any countries.

I visited the most devastated areas: Al Bayda and Derna, the epicenter of the catastrophe. Libya, a nation already battered by conflict, now has to cope with the aftermath of a catastrophe on a scale unprecedented in its history. In addition, many children are being affected by the lack of essential services such as healthcare, schooling, and water supplies. UNICEF has also deployed mobile protection and psychosocial support teams to help children and their caregivers navigate through these harrowing experiences. Our protection team has been particularly active, reaching hundreds of children with psychosocial support and recreational activities.

Following the devastation wrought by Storm Daniel, hundreds of thousands of people in eastern Libya are mourning the loss of loved ones, homes, possessions and livelihoods. Mental health services were one of the top 3 priorities – along with safe water and primary health care services ­– identified by an interagency assessment team that visited eastern Libya in the early days of the disaster. The need for mental health care is becoming even more acute in the aftermath of the crisis. Dr Ahmed Zouiten, WHO Representative in Libya, said that mental health services are essential. We are working with the authorities to make sure that people can obtain basic mental health support in primary health care facilities and community centres.

CAIRO - 10 October 2023: Egyptian exports have witnessed remarkable developments in the last ten years, which led to the total value of Egyptian exports reaching about 311.7 billion dollars during the past 10 years, according to data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS). Egyptian exports over the past years were distributed by 29 billion dollars in 2013, and 27.5 billion dollars Dollars in 2014 (decreasing 5.1%), in addition to $22 billion in 2015 (decreasing 20.2%). The agency’s data showed that the top 10 countries importing finished goods from Egypt during the first half of 2023. They were distributed according to the following:Turkey, worth $997.2 million. France, worth $295.3 million.

The Head of the EU Border Assistance Mission in Libya (EUBAM Libya), Natalina Cea, and the Head of EU Affairs Department of the Tripoli-based Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdulrhaman Khamada, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation yesterday. The Memorandum aims at strengthening the cooperation and coordination between EUBAM Mission and Libyan institutions in managing and securing Libyan borders and in fighting against border crimes and terrorism. This partnership also includes support for enhancing cross-border cooperation with Libya’s neighbouring countries, including in the Sahel. Tahel AlBahour affirmed “We welcome our cooperation with EUBAM and the European Union. The Libyan Foreign Ministry and the European Union Border Assistance Mission (EUBAM) in Libya on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on coordination and cooperation in managing and securing Libyan borders and in fighting against border crimes and terrorism, EUBAM said in a statement. The signing ceremony was held at the ministry’s headquarters in the Libyan capital Tripoli, and was attended by the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Taher Albahour and the Head of the European delegation to Libya Nicola Orlando. The partnership also includes support for enhancing cross-border cooperation with Libya’s neighboring countries, including in the Sahel, it added. “The MoU we signed today is another important milestone that will allow us to deepen our cooperation with EU and its member states on border management and security, and our joint fight against cross-border serious crimes and terrorism,” said Taher Albahour. “The MoU represents an important step forward in the ongoing efforts to tackle security challenges the country faces,” the Head of the EUBAM Libya Mission Natalina Cea said.
